Communications Materials & Social Media

M&IHC’s approach to strengthening an organization's communications and marketing work includes implementing internal and external communications strategies. This includes building teams, re-branding, overhauling websites, executing social media strategies, and creating tailored content for external dissemination.

Edutainment for SRH Stigma Reduction

M&IHC executed a systematic literature review in order to understand and examine current practices and evidence that leverage edutainment serials to positively influence audience attitudes, knowledge, and behavior towards sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in Africa. After reviewing both published and grey literature, M&IHC compiled a collection of best practices and tools to reduce SRH stigma through edutainment and developed a strategic approach to analyze the landscape and measure its success.

Communications Consulting: Digital Square at PATH

M&IHC provides ongoing communications consulting for Digital Square at PATH. Our hub has worked to lead the publication and dissemination of a broad range of written materials, including blog posts, website pages, and social media posts. In addition, our team has planned, authored, and formatted communications deliverables in partnership with program and country teams, effectively sharing the teams’ expertise and impact.

Case Studies: Micronutrient Data Use of Niger, Burkina Faso, and Guatemala

M&IHC worked with the Micronutrient Forum to provide assistance in creating case studies to show the use of micronutrient data to inform national-level decision makers. We collaboratively researched and identified 3 countries in Asia and Africa with good micronutrient data use to feature. Then, we designed and conducted interviews with informants on what drove success in policies and programs, and wrote case studies for the countries represented. In addition, M&IHC supported the DInA and Micronutrient Forum’s Advocacy and Communications Team in the preparation of a webinar series to disseminate the case studies to the DInA community.

Case Studies: Nutritional Interventions in South Sudan and Chad

M&IHC provided an expert technical consultation to the Malaria Consortium on how to best achieve their aim of addressing key drivers of malnutrition within communities they serve in sub-Saharan Africa. M&IHC created country case studies for South Sudan and Chad that included finalized recommendations on nutritional interventions as well as conceptual frameworks on the integration and implementation of those interventions. These case studies were developed through a remote desk review of national evidence, stakeholder mapping, conducting interviews with Malaria Consortium country teams, conducting interviews with additional stakeholders, and finalizing recommendations for interventions. We also produced interactive learning and sharing sessions that included 3 hours of presentations, a panel discussion with Malaria Consortium staff, and a question and answer session in multiple languages.

M&IHC conducted research and created all of the communications materials to support eHealth Africa’s Integrated Community Health project in Guinea. These communications projects included writing the program report for the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, authoring several blog posts, taking professional photographs, presenting at the Global Digital Health Forum, and publishing an article in Africa Health.

Blog Posts on Digital Health Solutions

M&IHC has collaborated with many organizations to create blog posts that share insight into the global implementation of digital health solutions. For example,  “Seven Lessons in Sustainability and Scalability for Digital Health Solutions” and “Pandemic Prompts New Digital Health Solutions for Family Planning” highlight key learnings for creating and implementing digital health solutions that deliver impact. Social media, chat services, and cyber educators are just some of the digital health solutions our posts discuss, as well as how each can further client autonomy, agency, and self-care in reproductive health.

Webinars on Digital Health & Family Planning

M&IHC organized and facilitated webinars in collaboration with PRB, Knowledge SUCCESS, and the Medical Concierge Group during the 2021 Digital Health Week. Over 400 attendees registered for our webinar titled, "Designing or implementing a family planning program? How to introduce digital solutions sustainably and at scale." The panel of experts represented the following organizations or programs: Aponjon. dnet; Chakruok. Shujaaz Inc.; mHero. IntraHealth; and mPedigree. Lessons on scaling and sustaining initiatives included: ministry involvement, partnerships, revenue models, adaptability, integration, flexibility, and uptake. The recording is available in French and English.

Digital Square at PATH - TAP Vietnam Program

M&IHC worked with Digital Square at PATH to provide technical assistance for their Center for Digital Excellence’s Technical Assistance Project’s (TAP) Vietnam program. This collaboration supported ongoing efforts for the TAP Vietnam initiative through writing meeting notes, capturing success stories, writing monthly reports, and monitoring progress according to the established work plan. To support the closeout of this USAID-funded project, we collaboratively developed and edited a final report that detailed Digital Square at PATH’s investment into Vietnam, which highlighted recommendations for future investments. As a whole, M&IHC worked to provide technical assistance to support Digital Square at PATH’s team in Vietnam.
